5. The helicopter is going down, preparing, people jumping out, parachutes, Daniel jumps out, has a beacon, hears something, prepares his gun, Jack and Kate meet Daniel Faraday, he says he's there to rescue them.
6. "I'm Daniel Faraday. I'm here to rescue you." Daniel

Daniel says his helicopter crew is 4, including him, doesn't know if they jumped out before the helicopter went down, he lost his pack, so he lost his phone, but Kate and Jack have a phone, Dan calls George Minkowski on their satellite phone, says there was an electrical storm, the instruments, thinks they went down, he made contact with some of the survivors, Minkowski asks if he's on speaker phone. Locke and the people that went with him, are in the jungle, Vincent, going East, Sawyer says the barracks are due South, Locke says he's going to the cabin, but Hurley says it's the other way, but then quickly pretends he was talking about the airplane's cabin, Sawyer questions why, Locke says they're supposed to, tells them he's getting orders from Walt.
12. Sayid doesn't see anything, but says the freighter could be approaching from the other side of the island, asks Juliet why Ben would say they'd do them harm, Juliet says Ben is a liar, or the people really intend to the them harm, asks Sayid about the guns they have left.
13. They find Dan's equipment in the jungle, gas masks, Jack asks about the gun, Daniel says it's a precaution, that rescue isn't exactly their primary objective, Jack asks what is.
14. "Er, okay, see, erm, rescuing you and your people. Can't really say its our primary objective." Daniel Faraday
15. The satellite phone picks up a GPS signal, Dan says it's Miles, they head off to find him.
16. Sawyer asks Locke about seeing Walt, Locke says that Walt said he had work to do, he was taller, that Ben shot him, left him for dead, that Walt saved him, shows him his wound, says that he'd be dead if he still had his kidney. From Lostpedia

19. Inglewood, California--Miles arrives at a house, on the radio in the car, "All 324 passengers dead," he gets out of his car and goes to the door.
20. "Oceanic 815, it can only be described as the worst case scenario. With the plane accounted for, and a salvage mission unlikely, authorities are confirming all three hundred and twenty-four passengers dead." Radio report

Mrs. Gardener answers the door, he introduces himself as Miles Straume, she says the room is upstairs at the end of the hall, he says it's $200, paid in advance, cash, the woman says it was supposed to be $100, but Miles says that was before his friend at the Police Station said that her grandson was murdered, tells her not to come upstairs, no matter what she hears, there are photographs of her grandson on the wall by the stairs.
22. Miles brings a machine with him, looks like a vacuum, goes into the room, feels something, shivers, appears to be possessed, he says he's not doing his grandmother any good, that he's causing her a lot of pain, that he'll tell her he's gone if he tells him where it is, a book-shelf shakes, something falls, Miles goes to look behind it, finds money, drugs, but only takes the money, says he can go now, he leaves the room. 23. He goes back downstairs, tells the grandmother that it worked, that he's at peace now, he gives her $100 back, says it wasn't that tricky.
24. Miles says Naomi used the code, saying to tell her sister that she loves her, Jack and Kate say she wasn't killed by them, but by John Locke, who isn't with them anymore, Miles wants to go to her body, he says he'll know what happened.
25. "Then why'd Naomi use the damn code? Yeah, you remember when she said tell my sister I love her, well she doesn't have a sister. That's what we're supposed to say if we get captured, have a gun to our heads. Like right now, Jack here would say tell my sister I love her, you get it?" Miles

27. Ben wants to tell Alex something, but tries to get to Karl, then asks Sawyer why he left Kate behind, says in the real world he wouldn't be able to compete with Jack, Sawyer beats him up, asks why they should keep him alive, Locke says not to do it.

Yes, on this Island you're brave, daring, handsome, you're someone, but if you left with them, back in the real-world a low-life scam artist like you could never compete with a first class surgeon. A woman asks how many different languages she has to read it in before she believes that it's true, Charlotte asks how many different languages are there, says people in their line of work are terrible at keeping secrets, she says they know about the dig, but a man says the site closed, Charlotte gives him money, says to open it, there is a skeleton in the sand, her friend asks if it's a dinosaur, but Charlotte says it's not a dinosaur, not by a few million years, that it's an Ursus Maritimus, a polar bear, in the desert, Charlotte begins excavating, finds a DHARMA collar with a logo from The Hydra, she appears to recognize it. 40. Charlotte wakes hanging from a tree, caught in it with her parachute, releases herself from it, into a stream below, appears to be excited about arriving on the island, looking around, Locke and the rest of the crew come upon her. From Lostpedia
41. Juliet says they were worried when they didn't get back, so they went to the cockpit and track them from there.
42. Sayid begins to interrogate them, asks their names, what they do, Daniel Faraday, physicist, introduces Miles, who says he collects soil samples, they're not there on a rescue mission, Sayid says that the world believes them to be dead, but they're not surprised to see them there, alive.

Charlotte, questioning them, can't believe they're alive, asks how many of them are there, if they've been living there the entire time, if Claire had her baby on the island, has a million questions, they can wait until they get back to freighter, tells them they have transponders, the pilot was trying to put the plane down, to stay where they are, but Locke says she's coming with them, they don't want to be found. 50. Locke and crew see the flare, Charlotte says they have to go, Hurley says they should, Claire says maybe they could be hurt, but Locke says she's lying, that she didn't come for them, Charlotte starts to go, Locke says she has to come with them, but Ben shoots her.
51. Sawyer beats Ben again, but Charlotte is okay, she was wearing a bullet-proof vest.
52. Jack and crew find Frank Lapidus, he's the pilot of the helicopter, says they got struck by lightning, he set the helicopter down safe and sound, shows them where it is. From Lostpedia

Naomi having a meeting with Matthew Abaddon about her team, he asks if she's familiarized herself with their profiles, Dan, Miles, Charlotte, Frank, Naomi says they're the wrong people for the mission, that they have no field experience, no military training, that it will be a disaster, Matthew Abaddon says it's a high risk covert operation in unstable territory, Naomi asks what if they find survivors of Oceanic Flight 815, he says there are no survivors, that every member of the team was selected for a specific purpose, that she gets them in and out without getting them killed. 58. Dan wants to bring Naomi's body back on the helicopter, but Frank says they can't bring any extra weight, that he'll get her on the next run.
59. Frank asks Juliet who she is, her name, says she wasn't on the plane, that he memorized the manifest, he says that she's a native, he tells Miles.
60. "You know how many times I studied that damn manifest? Believe me there's no Juliet Burke on that plane. She's a native." Frank

Notes:

1. The opening shot of this episode is very similar to the opening scene of the series, in The Pilot, Part 1 where there is a close-up of Jack's eye and a shot from above of Jack lying on the jungle floor.
2. In the episode ?, Mr. Eko said to Locke, "We wait for further instructions."
3. There is an on-going theory that this episode is actually a flash forward, started by, I believe, Ralph of The Dharmalars. Although, I like this idea, and think it would make this episode somewhat redeemable because it sucks ass, but unfortunately, I don't think that is true. But if it is, in fact, true, that commune is very Dharma-like.
4. It's a little strange, Locke carrying so many guns. It's a bit out of the norm of the usual John Locke flashbacks that we're used to.
5. First episode where we're introduced to Nikki and Paulo.

2.23 Live Together, Die Alone

Sayid tries to take advantage of Desmond's arrival, he wants to use the boat to travel to the other side of the island and scout the location of the Others, their numbers, positions, their weapons, that he'll set a signal fire and Jack will meet him, so they can attack together. Jack wants to tell Kate, but Sayid says no, that Michael can't sense that they know he's lying.
12. "This time they will know that we are coming." Sayid
13. Locke doesn't want Eko to push the button, but Eko kicks him out of the hatch.

15. Jack is giving out the guns, Kate is curious about others and what they're doing with costumes and fake beards, that if it's just what they want them to think, Michael says they really are that way.
16. Desmond gives Sayid his boat, but Sayid can't sail.

Desmond is in Los Angeles, in a coffee shop, has no American money, Libby pays $4 for his coffee, Desmond tells her about his sailing race around the world in 8 months, that he needs $42,000 for a boat. 19. Libby says she has a boat, that it was her husband's, he got sick, wanted to sail to the Mediterranean, passed away about a month ago, she gives Desmond her boat, David, her husband, named it after her, "Elizabeth."

21. Sayid asks Sun to talk to Jin about sailing the boat, Jin says he won't leave Sun, but she says she's going with them.
22. Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley and Michael walking through the jungle, a bird flies overhead, appears to say "Hurley," Michael tries to shoot at it but there are no bullets in his gun, Jack says that he must have forgotten to load it.
23. Charlie walks up on Locke crying in the jungle, tells him about Desmond being back.
24. Desmond tells Claire not to inject herself with the vaccine, that he shot himself every 9 days for 3 years and it did nothing.
25. Desmond is at the same stadium on the same night that he met Jack, when he's doing a Tour de Stade, Penny shows up in the parking lot, Desmond wants to know how she found him, she asks why he didn't write to her, but he doesn't tell her that he did. 30. Locke tells Desmond he found another station, The Pearl, about the Orientation film, that The Swan is just an experiment, but Desmond doesn't believe him, Locke says that they're going to find out what happens if the button doesn't get pushed.
31. Michael is acting suspicious, but he thanks Jack for coming along with him.

33. Sun gets sick on the boat, but it's not seasickness.

36. Locke and Desmond fake a lockdown, trap Eko outside of the computer room.

38. Desmond is on his sailing race, waves crashing over the boat, he wraps his things safely, his book, Penny's photograph, he is knocked out on the deck of the boat, washes up on the island, man in yellow hazmat suit finds him, takes him to The Swan.
39. "Are you him?" Kelvin "What?" Desmond "What did one snowman say to the other?" Kelvin
40. Kelvin Inman, the same man, Joe Inman, the CIA operative that forced Sayid to torture in Iraq, says he found Desmond washed up on shore, says there was no boat, alarm goes off, Kelvin pushed the button, Desmond asks what it is.
41. "Just saving the world." Kelvin
42. Desmond watches the Orientation film, he asks Kelvin about the missing parts.
43. "Radzinski made some edits." Kelvin
44. Kelvin says that Radzinski was his partner, to put the film back behind Turn of the Screw when he's done, Desmond asks why he wears the hazmat suit when he goes outside, Kelvin says so he doesn't get infected, he tells Desmond to take the vaccine every 9 days, that he was out there for a while before he found him, that he hopes it's not too late.
45. Desmond asks Locke about Mr. Eko, Locke tells him he's a priest and Desmond is weary about locking him out, Eko is pounding on the door, he then climbs out of the hatch through the shaft that Jack, Locke and Kate originally climbed down to get in the hatch, with the quarantine door that they blew off with the dynamite from the Black Rock. 46. Eko asks Charlie about the hatch door being blow off, where the dynamite is.
47. Kate spots others following them in the jungle, her and Sawyer turn the tables on them, Sawyer kills one of them, the other gets away, Jack says they've already been warned, gives up that he already knows what Michael did, he confesses, that he let "Henry" go, killed Libby and Ana Lucia, Hurley wants to go back, but Jack says no, that he has a plan.
48. Sayid, Jin and Sun arrive to the rock with the hole in it by the shore.
49. Charlie leads Eko to the dynamite, he wants to blow up the blast door.
50. "It would take an atom bomb, brother. Tell him not to bother." Desmond

Kelvin shows Desmond how to fake a lockdown so he can draw on the blast door map, Desmond puts a cart under the door, Kelvin mixes detergent in a cup to paint with it, he tells Desmond about Radzinski, put a shotgun in his mouth while Kelvin was asleep, that he buried him, Desmond's been there 2 years, he wants to go outside, Desmond was kicked out of the Army because he couldn't follow orders, Kelvin says men followed his orders, that Desmond isn't going outside into the jungle. 53. Charlie questions whether the button is a joke, but Eko shows Charlie the magnet by throwing his belt at it, he asks if that's a joke.
54. Eko lights the fuse for the dynamite and hides behind a wall, Charlie runs away as a fire ball chases him from behind.

Desmond wakes, alarm is going off, he pushes the button, he can't find Kelvin, he hears him, he's underground, below the computer room, with a key, says he couldn't do it, the only other way out, a failsafe, Desmond asks about the wall, the incident, Kelvin says electromagnetism, geologically unique, the incident was that there was a leak, the charge builds up and the button discharges it before it gets too big. 57. Charlie and Eko appear to be dead from the explosion, Locke doesn't seem to care.

Desmond "I looked down the barrel of the gun and I believed. I thought it was my destiny to get into this place. And someone died—a kid. 62. They see the signal fire that Sayid lit by the shore, they hear whispers, voices, "Elizabeth" and "Michael," they're shot with darts, taken by the Others.
63. Desmond asks Locke about the other station he found, he tells about psychological station, 2 men observing, notebooks and pneumatic tubes, shows him the printout from the computer there, Desmond wonders if he got it backwards, if the men in The Pearl are the experiment. From Lostpedia
64. Kelvin is going out into the jungle in his hazmat suit, he says goodbye, but Desmond gets suspicious, sees a tear in his hazmat suit, then follows him. Kelvin takes off his mask outside, goes to Desmond's sailboat, knows Desmond followed him, says he was a spook for 10 years, that he knows when someone is following him, he says he's fixing that boat, that Desmond can come with him, that maybe the button isn't even real, Desmond questions why he lied to him, why he went on about damns, electromagnets and failsafes, Kelvin says he needed someone to save the world after he left, Desmond gets angry and attacks Kelvin, accidentally hits his head on the rocks and dies, Desmond takes the failsafe key from around his neck, runs back to the hatch, everything is shaking, the alarm is going off, there is a system failure, Desmond tries to type in numbers but to no avail, there are hieroglyphs on the countdown clock, eventually it works and everything is reset, fixed, back to normal. Desmond studies the printout from The Pearl station, numbers and the word accepted repeated many times, then he finds 922044:16 and SYSTEM FAILURE written many times over, he asks Locke when he got there, when his plane crashed, Locke says 60-65 days ago, September 22, and it's the same day that Kelvin died and the button wasn't pushed, there was a system failure. 75. Desmond is very upset because he thinks the world is gone, he throws things in the hatch, he hears Locke bang on the door, he sees it as a sign, it gives him hope that the world is still out there, he puts the light on. From Lostpedia

78. The alarm is going off, the button doesn't get pushed, there is another system failure, the timer flips to hieroglyphs.
79. "I'm going to blow the dam, John. [the timer starts flipping to the hieroglyphs] I'm sorry for whatever happened that made you stop believing. But it's all real. Now I've got to go and make it all go away. I'll see you in another life, brotha." Desmond
80. The hatch is imploding, the countdown clock implodes, a magnetic force is drawing everything to the wall, Eko wakes up, Locke realizes his mistake, that Desmond was right.

Benry, is the leader of the Others, he gives Michael the boat, says he's not happy with the arrangement, says they got more than they bargained for when Walt joined them, but he says that Michael set him free, living up to his word, so they will live up to theirs, he tells Michael to follow a compass bearing of 325, that if he does that exactly, they will find rescue. Michael asks how he knows he won't tell people about where he was, but Benry says that he won't because of what he did, that once he leaves, he'll never be able to get back there, Michael says that he was promised they wouldn't hurt his friends, that's the deal.

88. He tells Michael that Walt is on the boat, they are reunited.
