4.10 Something Nice Back Home

5. Jack gets up, they say he fainted, he says he's just dehydrated, but Kate says that he's not fine.

Juliet shaves Jack's stomach, she says she did a lot of Appendectomies in her Medical Residency, Jack looks at where she is shaving and tells her the incision is two inches lower, Jack wants to stay awake for the surgery and talk her through it, they can use Lidocaine to numb the area, he'll watch and Kate will hold a mirror, Juliet says she needs someone with Medical experience to help, she wants Bernard to instead, but Jack says no, he wants Kate to be there.
14. Jack, working at St. Sebastian's, with patient Ms. Berenberg who leaves, he sees someone walking, looks like Christian Shephard, Erika asks him to take a look at an x-ray on the L4, he gets a call from Dr. Stillman, he's from Santa Rosa, he says Hurley refuses to take meds, stopped sleeping, and therapy is useless because he thinks his doctor doesn't exist.
15. Jack goes to visit, asks why he isn't taking his meds, Hurley says they're dead, the Oceanic 6, that they never get off Island, he asks Jack what he did today, and Jack says that he woke up, took shower, he and Kate fed the baby, Hurley says he thought Jack didn't want anything to do with Aaron, Jack says he changed his mind after the trial, Hurley says everything is perfect, just like Heaven, living with Kate and and taking care of Aaron, Jack says just because he's happy doesn't mean it's not real, Hurley says he was happy too, but then he saw Charlie, that he likes to sit with him on the bench out on the front lawn, yesterday Charlie told him that Jack would be coming by, he wanted Hurley to give him a message, that he made him write it down, the note says "You're not supposed to raise him, Jack," Hurley asks if he thinks that means Aaron, Charlie also said someone will be visiting Jack soon too, Jack gets upset and leaves.

While at The Staff, Jin asks Sun if she thinks Charlotte knows that Dan likes her, Charlotte looks at them like she understand Korean, Daniel asks where they think all the power is coming from on the Island, Charlotte says to add it to the list, Sun tells Jin The Staff is where Juliet brought her, Jin promises to get her and the baby off the Island.
18. Sawyer, Claire and Miles run into Frank Lapidus, he warns them that Keamy and his men are coming, says they're wounded, they show up and Frank tells them they have to get back now, that he's not flying at night.From Lostpedia

Jack comes home early, tells Kate that he sent Veronica home early, asks where she was, why Veronica was there so late, Kate says she was running errands, Jack tells her that he went to see Hurley, last Friday, Kate asks why he didn't tell her, she would've gone, Jack says that he's crazy, he didn't want to upset her, he asks where she was, she asks him to trust her, to just leave it be, but Jack insists, asks who she was talking to on the phone, wants to know where she was, who she was with, she says that she was doing something for Sawyer, that she made a promise, that he wouldn't want her to tell him, Jack says he's not there, that he made his choice, that he chose to stay, Jack is the one who came back, that he's the one who's here, that he saved her, Kate says that if he has a problem, he needs to figure it out, but that she can't have him around her son, Jack says that she's not even related to him, Aaron walks in on their argument.
28. Sawyer wakes up, Miles says that Claire walked off into the jungle in the middle of the night with her dad, they hear Aaron crying, find him left under a tree, alone, Claire is gone.

Notes:

1. Jack steps on a Millennium Falcon, which is yet another Star Wars reference.
2. The toy can also be a reference to Sawyer, who had made several Star Wars references himself throughout the series. Jack also exclaims "Son of a bitch!" which is a Sawyer line.
   
3. When Jack is seen shirtless in the flashforward, he has a scar where his appendix would be. Obviously this is shown for continuity, but there was a big deal made over the fact that Matthew Fox had shaved his chest and stomach for this episode, when he was clearly hairy previously. Kate also says that she bought Jack a razor in the same scene. Obviously the chest-shaving was done to show the scar from his surgery in this episode, which was revealed in the flashforward before we knew that it happened on the island.
4. I always wonder what exactly Jack is responding to when he scoffs at the newspaper and exclaims "A-Rod."
5. The Yankees/Red Sox series, to my memory, occurred in August of 2006.
   
6. This is not my favorite episode ever. In fact, I think it's one of the weakest of Season 4. Maybe it's just that I don't enjoy Jack or Kate flashes so much anymore. I'd rather learn about characters that I don't know that much about yet. However, I love the scene with Hurley. Jorge Garcia's serious acting is so underrated.
   
7. When Jack is supposed to work on someone with an L4 vertebrae problem, obviously he was familiar with it already, because he operated on Ben who had a tumor on his L4.
8. Jack gets a prescription for Clonazepam. Hurley asked Sawyer for Clonazepam in Dave. He said he needed it so that he wouldn't see things. Now Jack is the one seeing things and taking pills.
   
9. Jack is looking pretty freakin' crazy right here. This is one of Jack's craziest Crazy-Jack moments.
10. The title comes from something Bernard says to Jack during the surgery, "dream of something nice back home."
    
11. In Raised by Another, Richard Malkin told Claire that she was the only one who could raise the baby, but she wanted to give it up for adoption, when she decides not to, he then changed his story and told her that there was a couple in Los Angeles that would adopt the baby. He said "They're not strangers. They're good people." Now, there is a couple in Los Angeles raising Aaron. Was Richard Malkin somehow talking about Jack and Kate?
12. You didn't save Kate, Jack. What the hell is wrong with you? Sawyer saved her more than you did.
13. Why in the hell did Keamy bury Danielle and Karl's bodies face up, showing through the dirt? Not only is he a ruthless kill, but he's lazy too.
14. Uh, usually the Smoke Monster beats the crap out of people and kills them. Those guys had a few scratches.
    
15. Hurley states that someone will be visiting Jack as well, this is reminiscent to ghosts visiting Scrooge in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
    
16. This episode was the second time Kate's identity was revealed in a shower scene. Not complaining.
17. Sawyer's evolution to leader begins, and Jack's drug addiction begins.
    
18. I dare you to name a Jack flashback/forward where Jack hasn't cried. Go ahead, find one.
    

3.16 One of Us

1. Sayid, Kate, Juliet, Jack going back, stop at a stream, going to camp for the night.
2. Jack and Kate go to collect firewood, Jack says he made a deal with them, if he took care of Ben, they'd let him off the island, he did what he was supposed to do, didn't ask questions.
3. Juliet says let's have it, Sayid questions her while they have a moment alone.
4. "I want to know what you people are doing on this Island. Why you're terrorizing us. Making lists. Kidnapping children. I want to know everything. But the first thing I'd like to know is, who are you?" Sayid
5. Juliet, driving up to Mittelos Bioscience, Downtown playing in the car, Rachel is with her, Ethan gets her bags, Richard Alpert tells Rachel they're borrowing her sister for a few months, Juliet is worried about leaving her, but Rachel says the cancer is gone, she's pregnant, Juliet says she'll be back before she gives birth. 6. Juliet says that if she told him who she was, everything she knows, he'll kill her, Jack says to leave her alone, but Sayid says sooner or later, she'll answer his questions, Jack says she's under his protection, that she'll answer questions when she's ready.

At Herarat Aviation, Richard says Juliet will be with them for 6 months, that time will fly once she's there, Ethan takes her vitals, Richard says everyone's excited, her research will have impact, gives her a sedative, tranquilizer, says the trip is kind of intense, Juliet says she was okay with signing paper work, agreeing not to talk to anyone for 6 months, no one in medical community heard of Mittelos Bioscience, Richard says she was fine with those things because she knows the place she's going to is special.
11. "Let me ask you, Juliet. You took a woman, your own sister, whose reproductive system was ravaged by chemotherapy, who was sterile. And you made her pregnant. You created life where life wasn't supposed to be. That's a gift, Juliet. You have a gift. And don't you think you're meant to do something significant with it? Where we're going, you can do just that." Richard "Where exactly are we..." Juliet "I can't tell you that. But what I can tell you is that, you'll see things there that you never imagined. 14. Claire is sick, doesn't look so good, she says her head is pounding, Sawyer gets her aspirin.
15. Sawyer sees that Jack is back, everyone greets eachother, they all embrace, Kate hugs Sawyer, Jack and Sawyer shake hands, Juliet watches from afar, Sawyer spots her, asks what the hell she's doing there.
16. Hurley approaches Juliet sitting alone on the beach, he talks to her, asks if she's one of them, says he doesn't remember her from the dock, when the put bags over their heads, shocked them, Juliet says she had off that day, he asks if she's a doctor, she says that she's more of a researcher, he says that the last one of them who was there, Ethan, the he kidnapped Claire, then Charlie got upset, and he points out where they buried Ethan's body. 17. In The Staff, a woman dies on Juliet's table, Ethan is there, Goodwin says she tried, that it's okay, that he'll talk to Ben.

Juliet talks to Ben, he says it was Sabine's choice to get pregnant, Juliet says she thinks it happens at conception, nothing she could do about it there, wants to take a woman off the island, back to Miami, Ben says no. Juliet says she can't help, that it's time to go home, Ben says her sister won't be giving birth in 3 months, the cancer is back, she'll be dead, shows her reports, x-rays, got them form Mikhail, says she can go home, but if she stays, he'll cure her sister's cancer, Jacob said he would take care of it, if she stays. Jack wants everyone to trust Juliet, Sawyer wants Sayid to question her, but Sayid says he doesn't torture people anymore, but that he doesn't trust her, if she's innocent, why wouldn't she answer his questions, Jack says to give her time, she's afraid, tells them that Locke went with them, destroyed the sub that was going to take him off the island.
20. Claire is bleeding, she collapses in front of everyone.
21. Juliet says she can help Claire, that she did it to her, her immune system is turning on her, it's a reaction to the medication in her blood stream, designed by her to keep her alive, during late stages of the pregnancy, women there can't have babies, mother's body turns on the pregnancy, treat it as a foreign invader, every pregnant woman on the island has died, until Claire, Ethan infiltrated their camp right after the crash, took blood samples, Claire didn't conceive on the island, but her symptoms were consistent with the previous mothers, the kidnapping wasn't supposed to happen, he improvised, kidnapper her, it was never the plan, without the injections, she would've died, she needs the serum, Ethan kept a stash of medical supplies near the caves, she can get them, Jack says go.

Juliet looks at x-rays that Karl developed for her, leaves to go tell Ben he was a tumor, he's reading Carrie by Stephen King, Juliet asks why Ben is scared, he told her no one on the island ever had cancer, said he curer her sister, says he lied to her, asks if he can cure cancer, then why he has it, wants to talk to Rachel, wants to go home, Ben says Rachel is fine, he told her the truth, gave her his word, he says no.
24. Juliet finds the hidden medical stash by a tree, with the same marking the Others gave her on her back, Sayid and Sawyer show up, they followed her, they want answers.
25. "You know its interesting, that you two are now the camp's moral police. I'm curious, Sayid, how long was it before you told everyone on that beach exactly how many people you've tortured in your life. Do they know about Basra? And I'm sure the first thing you did when you got here, James, was to gather everyone in a circle, and tell them about the man you shot in cold blood the night before you got on the plane. So why don't we just skip the part where you two pretend to be righteous. I'm taking that medication back to Claire. And you're gonna let me. Because if she doesn't get it, she's gonna die. Ben tells Mikhail to up-link to Richard in Arcadia Park, Ben says it's live, Richard shows her a newspaper, dated September 22, 2004, Rachel with her son, Ben says 2 years ago her cancer went into complete remission, gave birth to a healthy baby boy, named him Julian, Juliet wants to go home, Ben says when her work is finished, Juliet says there are no more mothers, Ben says they'll find more, maybe even one on the plane.
28. Juliet comes back with the case and the serum, Jack tells Charlie he trusts her, to trust him, she gives Claire a shot, says they'll see results in a few hours.
29. Jack says if it doesn't work, he won't be able to protect her anymore, she'll be on her own.
30. Charlie watches Aaron, Claire wakes up, she's okay.
31. Jack brings Juliet some supplies, he says they're all good people, willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but he says that eventually they'll need answers, Jack says he trusts her because she wants to go off the island, that she's one of us.
32. "You were there. You were standing right next to me when that submarine exploded. In that moment, I saw it in your eyes. You wanna get off this Island more than anything else in the world. That makes you one of us." Jack
33. Juliet and Ben talk, going over a plan, he tells her to drag Austen to the jungle, handcuff herself to her, tell her she was gassed too, admit it if she catches her in the lie, only want to earn her trust, go back to the beach with them, Ben says he activated the implant in Claire, symptomatic within 48 hours, crisis for her to solve, hide case at Ethan's old drop-point, tell Jack she can save her, he'll see her in a week.

Juliet sitting on a beach, crying, she goes into a building, Ethan passes her in the hallway, she enters a room, takes out a vile, draws something into a syringe, a woman wakes up, it's her sister, Rachel, she appears to have cancer, Juliet says that they don't have to keep doing it, but Rachel asks if she's afraid it won't work, Juliet injects her, opens the curtains in the apartment, they live in Miami, an Oceanic plane passes by. 2. Jack tells Kate to go, tells Tom that Juliet can't fix Ben, not a surgeon.
3. Sawyer beats the crap out of Pickett, Kate and Sawyer run.
4. Juliet, Medical Research Lab of Miami Central University, the bio-research building, Diana from Mittelos Bioscience calls, she has an appointment at 2 with Dr. Alpert, she steals 2 viles marked "Test Sample," while her ex-husband, Edmund, who is there with another woman, Sherry, catches her in the building when she's not supposed to be.
5. Juliet tells Jack about that Kate and Sawyer aren't going to make it back to their side of the island because they're not on that island, they're on a smaller island 2 miles off shore, Jack tells Tom about her plan to kill Ben, Tom tells her to leave.
6. Pickett goes after Kate and Sawyer, who are looking for a boat, Alex comes to save them, she helps them hide in a hole she dug underground.
7. Tom asks Jack if what he said about Juliet is true, Ben wakes up, he says to get Juliet. From Lostpedia

10. Alex has a boat, says that she'll help Sawyer and Kate if they help her with Karl.
11. Jack tells Ben that he stopped the operation, he says that he's been able to hear him for a few minutes, he talks to Juliet alone, Jack gives them 3 minutes.
12. Tom introduces himself to Jack, tells him Juliet and Ben have history.
13. Juliet tells Jack to continue the surgery, that she's going to help Kate and Sawyer escape.
14. Juliet has her meeting with Dr. Alpert, Mittelos Bioscience, Oregon, just outside of Portland, privately funded, means freedom, she asks why they would want her, he says Juliet successfully impregnated a male field mouse, she says it didn't carry the term, he shows her an x-ray of a human womb, Juliet says it's a woman somewhere in her 70s, but Alpert says she's only 26, that he'd give her the complete freedom and money to find out about it, thinks she's special, lead a team, she says her ex-husband wouldn't let her, Alpert says that maybe they could reach out to him on her behalf, she says he would only let her go if he were hit by a bus, she says no to the job, that she's not a leader. Sawyer, Kate and Alex see Aldo guarding a door, reading A Brief History in Time, Alex says that Karl has to be in there, she's looked everywhere else, they play the wookiee prisoner gag, Aldo calls Pickett on the walkie, Kate threatens to shoot Aldo in the knee, he tells her Karl is in the building, in Room 23.

3.04 Every Man For Himself

1. Desmond watching Claire and Aaron, says she has a problem with her roof, but Charlie and Claire decline his help, say the shelter is fine.
2. Jack watching cartoons, Juliet brings him blueberry pancakes, Jack says that maybe he should take to Ben, but Juliet says Ben isn't in charge, that they make decisions together.
3. Ben says he needs Juliet, that the sub is back.
4. The Others return with Colleen, Sawyer says they did it.
5. Sawyer's hatching a plan, the electrocution of Pickett, with water and the electricity from the machine in his cage, Kate's impressed, but she asks what about Jack.

7. Sawyer in prison, boxing, Munson being bullied, ripped off the government for 10 million, they never found it, the warden is protecting him, Sawyer imprisoned for 9 months, says warden is buttering Munson up, then he'll use his wife against him, test book con.
8. Sawyer, 180 lbs., 35 years old, he tries to pull his electrocution trick on Ben, but Ben beats the crap out of him with his beating stick.
9. Tom says it's been 2 days since the sky turned purple, the comms are down.
10. Sawyer is strapped to a table, needle in sternum, Jack hears Sawyer screaming on the intercom in his cell.
11. Desmond asks Paulo for a golf club.
12. There is a bunny with a #8 painted on it, Ben shakes the cage, apparently kills it, says he put a pacemaker in it like Sawyer, 70 bpm resting heart-rate, 140 active, above that will cause Sawyer's heart to explode, gives him a pulse monitor, 15 beats within the danger zone, it starts to beep, can't tell Kate or he'll put one in her too. 13. Sawyer is brought back to his cage, where Kate asks what happened, but Sawyer says nothing, that he doesn't tell her everything. They give Sawyer and Kate something to wash off with, and her something new to wear. When Kate undresses, Sawyer's heart monitor goes off.
14. Cassidy Phillips visits Sawyer in prison, while Costanza sits by, talking to his wife. Cassidy turned Sawyer in, she tells him about daughter, that they live in Albuquerque, near the University, her name is Clementine, Sawyer says it's not his kid. From Lostpedia
15. Juliet asks Jack for help, brings him out, past the cages where Sawyer and Kate are being held, they sound an alarm and put a bag over Jack's head so he can't hear or see Kate and Sawyer yelling for him.

21. Juliet tells Jack she's a fertility doctor, the woman who died was Colleen, Jacks asks about spinal x-rays that he saw, a man about 40, large tumor on L4 vertebrae, says that he's a spinal surgeon, he asks who he's there to see, who has the tumor.
22. Desmond pitches a lighting rod near Claire's tent, he watches nearby, as it starts to rain, there is a bolt of lightning that the rod catches, which almost hits Claire's tent. From Lostpedia

Sawyer finds where the money is, he was working for the warden, Agent Freedman of the Treasury Department, the money, 10 million is in a red Bronco in a Stor-Quik Facility, Sawgrass, off 441, unit 23C, last 6 years of his sentence commuted, his commission, put in an account in Albuquerque, in the name of Clementine Phillips, with no way to find out where it came from.
25. Ben shows Sawyer another island, they're island, which they're no longer on, he has no pacemaker, they only put doubt inside him, the bunny was given a sedative, shows him a bunny with the #8 painted on it, Ben tells him that the island they're on is a small island roughly twice the size of Alcatraz, that there's nowhere to run, threatening Kate is what scared him, Ben quotes Of Mice and Men.
